Help with setup, streaming, timecode and export. If you're stuck, email dev@rootandarclabs.com and include your iPhone model and iOS version.

Getting started

  1. Spatial setup — move the phone around so ARKit detects the ground plane.
  2. Mount & calibrate — mount the phone, level the camera forward, and tap Calibrate. The horizon dial locks gold when level and turns red when off level (±2°).
  3. Configure offsets — enter the physical distance from the phone to the camera center.
  4. Sync timecode — choose MTC, LTC, or Device Clock, and set the framerates.
  5. Record — start recording when the camera rolls. Keep the app in the foreground; the screen stays awake for the whole take.

OSC streaming

In Settings, set your receiver's IP address and port (default 10.10.10.134:8000). On the same WiFi network, the app streams /accel, /gyro, /mag, /attitude, /arkit/position, /arkit/orientation, /gps, /baro and /timecode over UDP. If nothing arrives, confirm both devices are on the same network and the port matches your receiver.

Timecode & framerates

Choose a reference source — MTC (USB-C MIDI), LTC (3.5 mm audio), or Device Clock — and it's interpolated to your project framerate. Both pickers cover the standard rates: 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 60, plus 90 and 120 for the target. The NTSC rates 23.98 and 29.97 use their true 1000/1001 values. The sync indicator never shows a false lock.

CSV export

Recordings are written as synchronized IMU and ARKit CSV files with full session metadata. After a take, use Share to export them. Files stay on the device until you export or delete them.

Known in this release

Recording is foreground/screen-on only — background capture is planned for a later version. Calibration is not yet saved between launches.
